The Wizard of Oz
Alternate Ending
After the Wizard accidently flies
off in his balloon, instead of being able to use the Ruby slippers Dorothy must
perform 3 good acts to prove she is worthy of the power of the slippers and the
title of the Witch of the West. As her first good act she returns to the Wicked
Witch’s castle and frees the Winkies, the soldiers under control of the Wicked
Witch. She then discovers the golden cap, the device used to control the flying
monkeys with 3 wishes. From the monkeys she learns of the forest they
originated from and of an evil spider, which has taken over the forest. She
vows to rid the forest of the spider and the flying monkeys carry her and her
friends there for her first wish.
After arriving at the forest the
friends meet with some of the animals of the forest and learn that the spider
has been prowling the forest lately, snatching up any helpless animals. The Cowardly
Lion, with his newfound courage, vows to defeat the spider and take his
rightful place as king of the jungle. The friends set off and soon discover the
spider and quickly slay it, thus completing the 2nd good act. The
Lion stays in the forest to rule and protect those that live there. Using her
second wish she calls on the monkeys to take her to the home of Glinda.
Upon arriving at Glinda’s home they
are greeted by the witch and told they have completed two good deeds. For the
final good act Dorothy uses her last wish to free the monkeys from the curse
binding them to the wearer of the golden cap. Glinda acknowledges the good deed
and tells Dorothy the spell that will send her home. After saying goodbye to
the Scarecrow and Tin Woodsman she clicks her heels and is lifted off back
home. The slippers carry her across the great desert and during the flight she
loses them but returns home safely nonetheless.
